A PARISH CHOIR
A group of parishioners has identified the need for a choir or singing group within our parish, we have notified Fr Brady about this and we are delighted to inform you that this initiative is now in motion.

We are eager to welcome additional members who have an interest in singing or playing musical instruments.

If anyone wishes to join, we kindly ask that they submit their name to the parish office to express their interest.

Our hope is to come together and create a joyful, uplifting musical experience that enriches our Divine Liturgy.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to building something special together.

STAY WITH US, LORD, ON OUR JOURNEY

THIS WEEK’S GOSPEL

There are several remarkable things about this story. Firstly, the scene is just when Jesus is leaving Jericho. Jericho is about three hours’ walk from Jerusalem, up a great, rocky canyon. When you leave Jericho you know you are just about coming to Jerusalem. It is the last village on the way, and (as we heard in last week’s gospel) the excitement of what is to happen in Jerusalem (the great revelation of Jesus’ glory at the Passion) is already upon those who are journeying with him; the cured beggar dances on the way with them. Secondly, the beggar is the only person in Mark to call Jesus ‘Son of David”, drawing attention to Jesus’ messianic ancestry and preparing for his messianic entry into Jerusalem. Thirdly, in Mark Jesus says ‘Your faith has cured you’ only twice. The first time was to the woman with a haemorrhage, who had shown her faith with great courage by daring to touch Jesus’ garment in the crowd. Now Bartimaeus shows the same stubborn courage in carrying on shouting despite the attempts to silence him. So both these people show with their courage that they really do put their trust in Jesus and are confident that he will help them. If our faith is to save us, it needs to be real, courageous and stubborn. Lukewarm, tentative faith is not enough. How do we show our faith and trust in the Lord Jesus?

BAPTISMS Please see Fr. Brady after Mass if you would like your child to be baptised. A baptismal certificate for one of the parents must be provided as evidence of baptism in a Roman Catholic Church before a baptism date can be given. We welcome parents and children and by attending Masses at the weekend on Saturday at 5.30pm, Sunday at 9.00am or 10.00am which fulfil the Sunday obligation. All Catholics are OBLIGED to celebrate Mass on EVERY Sunday.

BAPTISM CERTIFICATE COPIES REQUESTS For those requesting copies of baptism certificate the office can be contacted initially and the certificate can be collected at any of the weekend Masses. This is also to encourage people to come to Mass.

SICK AND HOUSEBOUND If you know of anybody who would like Fr Brady to visit, could you please give him their name and address with postcode and a contact telephone number. Thank you.

MASS INTENTIONS AND NEWSLETTER INCLUSIONS The practice of requesting a Mass to be offered for loved ones, living or deceased, is a beautiful and wonderful part of our Catholic Tradition. Continuing this long-standing practice, you can remember someone who has died recently or many years ago. The Mass can also make beautiful gifts for any special occasion: birthdays, anniversaries, in thanksgiving for a prayer answered etc. You can offer an intention for anybody who is struggling with a serious illness or other difficulties of life. Please hand in any Mass Intentions and items for the bulletin before Thursday as the newsletter is printed on Friday Morning. There are Mass Intention Envelopes provided on the table in the Atrium. Please provide a contact number with Mass Intentions so that any discrepancies can be resolved.

OUR LADY’S LAMP AND THE SANCTUARY LAMP These burn for seven days. Please place any intentions in an envelope with £5 in the Mass Offerings Box in the Atrium.
