DBS UPDATE

Please bear with us as we resolve the delay in receipt of DBS certificates. Thank you for your patience. Forms will be provided to keyholders and those performing ministries requiring a DBS in due course.

DATA PROTECTION

You may remember that when the Data Protection laws were implemented there was some confusion around the publishing of names in parish newsletters. We have recently been asked to confirm the position. The names of sick parishioners should not be published in parish newsletters or on your website, unless you have consent to do so.  Many parishes are opting instead to read the names aloud and note that we pray for all the sick of the parish from Mass Intentions received. Data Protection laws do not need to be considered for the lately dead or anniversaries.

THANK YOU

For £100.00 received from the coffee morning.

CONGRATULATIONS TO FR BRADY!

Please remember Fr Brady in your prayers. He celebrates the 27th Anniversary of his ordination on 6th July.

STAY WITH US, LORD, ON OUR JOURNEY

THIS WEEK’S GOSPEL

This is one of the very rare saints’ days to displace the Sunday celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord, which shows its importance. In a way it is still a Feast of the Lord, for it is the feast of the Church. Peter is to be the Rock foundation of Jesus’ own people, for that is what we are. Christ has called us together as his own people, and he has promised that he will always be present in this Church, ‘when two or three are gathered together in my name’. So Christ is present even in an ordinary household trying to live together with Christ at their centre. Here Jesus makes the promise to Peter that what he binds on earth will be bound in heaven; his decisions will hold firm in the eyes of God. Later Jesus makes the same promise to the community itself. So Peter is the spokesman for the Christian community, voicing the decisions of the Church. At his last meeting with his disciples the risen Christ promises to be with them ‘till the end of the ages’; the bishops, as the successors of the apostles, are the channels of Christ’s presence among us now. So today is the celebration of Christ among us, his people. How do you celebrate day by day this wonderful presence of Christ in our midst?

BAPTISMS Please see Fr. Brady after Mass if you would like your child to be baptised. A baptismal certificate for one of the parents must be provided as evidence of baptism in a Roman Catholic Church before a baptism date can be given. We welcome parents and children and by attending Masses at the weekend on Saturday at 5.30pm, Sunday at 9.00am or 10.00am which fulfil the Sunday obligation. All Catholics are OBLIGED to celebrate Mass on EVERY Sunday.

BAPTISM CERTIFICATE COPIES REQUESTS For those requesting copies of baptism certificate the office can be contacted initially and the certificate can be collected at any of the weekend Masses. This is also to encourage people to come to Mass.

SICK AND HOUSEBOUND If you know of anybody who would like Fr Brady to visit, could you please give him their name and address with postcode and a contact telephone number. Thank you.

MASS INTENTIONS AND NEWSLETTER INCLUSIONS The practice of requesting a Mass to be offered for loved ones, living or deceased, is a beautiful and wonderful part of our Catholic Tradition. Continuing this long-standing practice, you can remember someone who has died recently or many years ago. The Mass can also make beautiful gifts for any special occasion: birthdays, anniversaries, in thanksgiving for a prayer answered etc. You can offer an intention for anybody who is struggling with a serious illness or other difficulties of life. Please hand in any Mass Intentions and items for the bulletin before Thursday as the newsletter is printed on Friday Morning. There are Mass Intention Envelopes provided on the table in the Atrium. Please provide a contact number with Mass Intentions so that any discrepancies can be resolved. Thank you.

OUR LADY’S LAMP AND THE SANCTUARY LAMP These burn for seven days. Please place any intentions in an envelope with £5 in the Mass Offerings Box in the Atrium.
